Eyewear Goes High-Tech
Before the end of this year, The Eye Works Optometry will reveal the first auto-focus eyeglass lenses, a collaborative effort between Pixel Optics and Panasonic Electronics. Pixel Optics says its electronic equipped frames and auto-focus lenses will resemble other eyeglasses in appearance.
These hi-tech spectacles are meant to auto-focus faster than the blink of an eye - employing chemistry, electronics and optics but no moving parts -- to help people's vision stay focussed whether viewing far or near objects or anything in between.
These lenses are lineless on the face of the wearer and will provide significantly wider and less compromised fields of clear vision having far less areas of distortion than that of Progressive Addition Lenses of an equal optical power, says the designers at Pixel Optics.
"It's absolutely cutting edge technology," sasy Dr. Craig Sultan the owner and optometrist of The Eye Works Optometry in downtown Napa. "We hope to be the first office in Napa County to introduce this new lens technology." We will have updates as we learn more about their roll out.
